With its palm-lined boulevards, internationally-acclaimed marina, charming old houses and castle with traditional architecture, all set amidst a modern city, Antalya is a major tourist centre in Turkey. In addition to the wide selection of hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops, the city also plays host to a number of sporting events throughout the year, like International Beach Volleyball, triathlon, golf tournaments, archery, tennis and canoeing competitions. The Cultural Centre, which opened in 1995, hosts cultural and art events in the fields of music, theatre, and creative arts. The main area of interest in the city is central old quarter within the Roman walls, known as Kaleici, and there are many good museums.
Districts: Akseki, Alanya, Elmali, Finike, Gazipasa, Gundogmus, Ibradi, Kale, Kas, Kemer, Korkutali, Kumluca, Manavgat and Serik are all towns in the province of Antalya.
The Old town is a collection of winding cobblestone roads and narrow pathes that weave their way amongst some wonderfully traditional wooden architechture. It's studded with old trees and explosions of vibrant Bourganville and is perched overlooking the vast expanse of the Mediterranean. Well worth the visit.

The 630km shoreline of the province is liberally scattered with ancient cities, harbours, memorial tombs and beaches, secluded coves and lush forests, many of which are easily accessible from the city. A surprise awaits you at a height of 1750 meters above sea level 50 km from Antalya: Saklikent, a natural miracle of cotton-white terraces rock formations. If you are seeking excitement and adventure, how about a day's rafting in Koprulu Canyon? The wide river that flows through the beautiful Koprulu Canyon National Park has attracted visitors from all over the world and is a popular tourist place for those interested in rafting.
The area around Belek has some mouth-watering attractions within an hours drive. In neighbouring regions, there is the Hellenistic/Roman city of Perge, which is rated second after Ephesus, and the great amphitheatre of Aspendos that still can hold nearly 20.000 people. Nearby are the Manavgat Falls and the Roman site of Side, a pretty resort town with ancient ruins, two sandy beaches and numerous cafes and restaurants. Only a few miles to the west is Antalya with its quaint harbour and old winding cobblestone roads amongst some fantastic architechture. You can also visit Burdur with it's awe-inspiring mountain views, the ancient cities of Termossosa and Olympos, the charming town of Alanya with it's old castle, the cool surroundings of the hidden Kursunlu waterfalls and a little farther away is the skiing resort of Davraz.
